“Don’t ever feed a baby with a milk bottle. Just stick to a spoon and bowl if you need to! Aadat lag jayegi” - Does the doctor know how impossible that is? Has he tried to feed a hungry baby in the middle of the night with a spoon? - One of our dear friends (who happens to be a new mom) was expressing her frustration when we met last week.
Been there, done that!
All of us (especially the mothers) unanimously agreed with the new mom. “It’s impossible! How long will you keep feeding with a spoon? With an older child to take care of, your own recovery and life pulling you in all directions, sometimes ideal approaches are impractical” - one of the mothers told her.
Unfortunately, this advice often comes from doctors who have never experienced feeding a baby with a spoon themselves! It's textbook advice, but simply impractical.
At work also, policies, programs and decisions are often made by people who don’t actually live the problem themselves.
So when we designed the CHRO of Tomorrow Program, it made complete sense that the ones teaching, guiding and creating the outline of the program should be the ones who have lived the journey to a CHRO role! That’s why we pulled in the whos-who of the HR world to be on our Think Tank and on the Faculty.
