Career wife

Career wife

Woman 1: “My husband never wanted a career woman as a wife.”

Woman 2: “I had to leave my job because my husband got a better opportunity. I did it for my family to be together, and we are happy—except that I sometimes feel frustrated about my career.”

Woman 3: “At the peak of my career, I left my job to manage my home and family. It was so frustrating to lose my financial independence.”

All three women were thriving in their careers but stepped away to manage home responsibilities—only to later feel the weight of that decision. Why do we still see careers and financial independence for women as optional? Something that can be sacrificed for the family (rather than treating it like a necessity)?

And do we think that the women who end up making these career sacrifices are entirely ‘happy’ with these decisions? Just like these stories show - does the frustration & regret sometimes haunt them? The key (for a woman) is not having to choose one over the other!

In our 1000 Women Leaders Programs, we talk about building a Protagonist Mindset—taking ownership of your career and ensuring that personal and professional growth go hand in hand.
